Monterey Bay Community Power Launches Carbon-Free Electricity Service

Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) held an event in Santa Cruz on June 28th to commemorate the launch of residential service in Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey counties. The launch is the second phase of MBCP’s 100 percent carbon-free electrical service; they began offering carbon-free energy to commercial, agriculture and industrial companies in the same tri-county area on March 1st.

“Residential consumers will have their choice, beginning July 1st, to make the right choice and look for community-based power,” said Santa Cruz Mayor David Terrazas as he declared July 1 Monterey Bay Community Power Day in the City of Santa Cruz.

Over the next three years, MBCP estimates giving back more than $40 million to ratepayers in customer rebates as well as other investments in programs and incentives related to climate change.

Miller Maxfield has been proud to work with MBCP since February 2016 and assisted with various aspects of this event, including speaker coordination and collateral materials.
